Welcome to Old School Minecraft!
This is the start of an amazing journey!
When you first spawn in, you will be inside the newbie box. This box contains much the same information that can be found here.
The very first thing you need to do is register an account with /register (password) (confirm)
. An example of this would be /register pass123 pass123
(but with a stronger password).
You can change your password with /changepassword (old) (new)
.
Once all this is done, we highly recommend you read the rules before you continue any further. Find them here: os-mc.net/rules
Next up, you can choose between going to spawn, or a random spot in the wilderness.
> Use /spawn
for spawn.
> Use /wild
for wild (Note: this option can sometimes kill you)
You may also use /tpa (username)
to request a teleport to a player on the server. We do not recommend accepting random teleports from new players, however.
Before you start building, make sure you have set a home with /sethome (name)
. This way, you will never lose your house.
Once you start building, it's important to remember that while you can't protect ALL of your stuff, you can lock your chests, furnaces, and doors. Example image below.
You can also use [More Users]
in a second sign to add additional players. If you want your chest to be indestructible but accessible to everyone, use [Everyone]
below the [More Users]
line (or just shift+right click a locked chest with a second sign). Example images below.
Now that you have established yourself, you can start your journey of building and exploration. There is a list of landmarks available with /landmarks
. To teleport, use /landmarks (name)
. Similarly, you can also use /warps
and teleport to them with /warp (name)
.
We could let you go here, but there is more to know! One of the warps that was briefly mentioned above is the player market, where players can buy and sell items with Chest Shops. To make a Chest Shop, place a sign adjacent to a chest. Example images below.
You are now a pro OSM player (kinda).
However, if you still want more, we have some additional resources for you.
